Industry Newspaper announces chair for impact companies awards

The Industry Newspaper has appointed Yomi Otubela, an entrepreneur and educationist, as chairman of its 2026 Companies of Impact project, an annual recognition of Nigerian businesses contributing to economic growth and national development.
nThe 2026 edition, themed ‘Building Resilience, Driving Growth: Nigerian Companies Shaping the Next Decade,’ will recognise companies for their contributions to resilience, innovation, job creation and development across key sectors of the economy.
nThe project will be unveiled at an awards and networking luncheon scheduled for 21 August 2026, at Lagos Oriental Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos.
nPresident of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools and Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Lagooz Schools, Otubela brings experience in entrepreneurship and education to the initiative.
nUnder his leadership, Lagooz Schools has focused on curriculum development, technology integration and talent development, while Otubela has advocated greater private-sector participation in education and policies supporting businesses and human-capital development.
nAs chairman, Otubela will provide strategic guidance for the selection process, deliver the chairman’s address at the event and lead discussions on how Nigerian companies can strengthen their economic and social impact through innovation, governance and responsible business practices.
nEditor-in-Chief and Publisher of The Industry Newspaper, Goddie Ofose, said Otubela’s experience made him well suited to lead the project.
n“We are honoured to have Chief Yomi Otubela chair this year’s Top 50. He embodies the spirit of impact we seek to celebrate—building institutions, empowering people, and creating value that outlives quarterly reports,” Ofose said.
nThe recognition will feature companies across sectors including banking, energy, manufacturing, healthcare, technology, aviation and education.
nThe Industry Newspaper said the 2026 edition will be distributed to senior executives, investors, policymakers and other stakeholders in Nigeria and abroad.
