Images: Lorry crashes into expensive entrance of Gombe Government House

A devastating collision occurred on Tuesday when a truck carrying sand crashed into the main gate of the Gombe State Government House, resulting in substantial damage to the structure, which was part of the ongoing renovation projects initiated by Governor Muhammadu Yahaya.

The incident took place at approximately 12:55 p.m. and involved a gate that has not yet been officially commissioned, despite being constructed as part of the ongoing renovation efforts.

According to eyewitnesses, the truck lost control prior to the collision, with one witness, Musa Abdullahi, a trader, describing the scene as he watched the truck approach at high speed before veering off and hitting the gate.

Ibrahim Sadiq, a commercial motorcyclist who witnessed the crash, noted that the accident could have had more severe consequences if pedestrians had been in the vicinity, but fortunately, people were able to run to safety in time.

A security aide, speaking anonymously, observed that the impact of the crash caused significant damage to the newly installed gate, bending parts of the structure due to the force of the collision.

The truck allegedly belongs to Tricata Nigeria Ltd, although its registration number was not available at the scene of the accident.

Director-General of Press Affairs, Gombe Government House, Ismaila Misilli, confirmed the incident, stating that there were no fatalities, and the driver, who sustained injuries, is receiving medical treatment.

The Government House is currently undergoing extensive renovation and rehabilitation as part of the administration's infrastructure projects across the state, with the damaged gate being a part of these efforts.
