Igboho's vigilante group frees abducted Oyo mother and child in Kwara operation

Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, a prominent Yoruba nation activist, revealed on Saturday that a woman and her son, kidnapped in Igbope, Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State, had been rescued in Kwara State.

Igboho, who founded the Iru Ekun Security Network, disclosed that his team, backed by the Intelligence Response Team of the Nigeria Police Force, clashed with the kidnappers in a fierce gun battle early on Saturday, freeing Adijat Kubura Aliqlas and Abdulmalik.

A statement from Igboho's media office stated that the operation's success, which spanned about three days, was due to thorough intelligence gathering and tracking, with the abductors lured using ransom, and ultimately escaping with bullet wounds and abandoning their captives in the forest.

The statement explained that Igboho and his team, including ASP Amos Ajegoke and policemen, had been tracking the hoodlums' movement in the forest for days to determine their location, discovering on July 2 that they were at Bode Sadu before Jebba.

According to the statement, the team moved to the location and remained there until Friday night, then attacked the kidnappers in the forest around 12:00 a.m. on Saturday, exchanging gunshots and giving them a hot chase, causing them to flee and abandon Adijat Kubura and Abdulmalik.

The statement further revealed that the rescue team heard the voices of the captives shouting for help, located them, and rescued them, with the duo currently receiving medical attention at Igboho General Hospital.

The operation's success was attributed to the support of the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, who communicated with the Commissioners of Police in Kwara and Niger states, making the task fruitful after days of efforts in the forest.

Igboho reaffirmed his commitment to protecting lives and property, assuring the people of Oke-Ogun and Oyo State that all lawful efforts would continue to be deployed to support peace and security.
