Hospital unveils patient engagement initiative

R-Jolad Hospital has unveiled a patient engagement initiative, the R-Jolad Heritage Circle, aimed at strengthening long-term relationships with generations of patients and their families beyond clinical care.

The initiative was launched as part of activities marking more than four decades of the hospital’s operations and brought together former patients, families and members of the R-Jolad community who were either born at the hospital, had their children there or had received care at the facility over the years.

Speaking at the event, the Founder and Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Funsho Oladipo, said the Heritage Circle reflected the institution’s commitment to sustaining relationships with patients beyond healthcare services.

“For over four decades, R-Jolad has been privileged to share some of life’s most defining moments, from welcoming new lives into the world to caring for families through every stage of life.

“The Heritage Circle preserves those relationships and invites our community to help shape the future of healthcare for generations to come,” he said.

Guests also viewed a documentary highlighting the hospital’s evolution from a single healthcare facility into a multispecialty institution.

Speaking on the theme, “From Vision to Impact: The R-Jolad Story in Action,” the Executive Director of the hospital, Mr Soji Osunsedo, said the hospital’s growth had been driven by investments in people, systems, innovation and patient experience.

“Our focus has remained on translating our original vision into measurable impact by strengthening healthcare delivery and improving the experience of patients and families,” he said.

Introducing the Heritage Circle, the hospital’s Head of Paediatrics, Dr Olatunji Adewoye, described the initiative as a platform for preserving shared memories while encouraging members to support the hospital through advocacy, collaboration and community engagement.

A Family Medicine Consultant at the hospital, Dr Oluyemi Oloje, said lasting relationships between healthcare providers and patients contribute to healthier families and stronger communities.

One of the beneficiaries of the initiative and a nursing officer at the hospital, Lotachukwu Funsho, who was born at the facility, described the recognition as symbolic of the hospital’s generational impact.

“I was born here, my siblings were all born here, and now I work here, building a legacy that will outlive us all. What an honour it is to be recognised,” she said.

The launch comes shortly after R-Jolad Hospital was recognised as the Best Private Secondary Healthcare Facility for the second consecutive year at the 2026 Nigeria Healthcare Excellence Awards.
