Gwamna gets APC nod, set to challenge Pantami, Alkali in Gombe party election

The All Progressives Congress has given Jamil-Isyaku Gwamna the green light to run in the 2027 governorship election in Gombe State, following a thorough screening process held in Abuja.

This development was disclosed in a press statement issued on Sunday by Ibrahim Shawai, Gwamna's Media Aide, which outlined the outcome of the party's screening exercise.

The screening exercise took place at the Kaduna State Governor's Lodge, located at Plot 37 Jose Marti Street, Asokoro, and was conducted in strict accordance with the party's constitutional provisions and nomination guidelines.

Dr Benjamin Obi Nwoye, Chairman of the screening committee, confirmed that Gwamna had successfully met all the necessary constitutional and procedural requirements to participate in the APC governorship process ahead of the elections.

Gwamna, who has emerged as the consensus candidate in Gombe, will face off against former Ministers Professor Isa Pantami and Saidu Alkali in the direct primary election, as both have expressed their intention to contest the 2027 polls under the APC banner.

In his remarks after the screening exercise, Gwamna commended the APC leadership for overseeing a transparent and credible process designed to bolster internal democracy within the party.

Gwamna stated, "I am honoured to have successfully gone through this important constitutional process of our great party, which further strengthens confidence in the democratic values and internal structures of the APC."

He also pledged to build on the achievements recorded in Gombe State under the administration of Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, with a vision to ensure the state works better for all citizens.

Gwamna stated, "Our vision is to ensure that Gombe State works better for every citizen, regardless of background or status, and we are committed to building on existing achievements while introducing new ideas that will further improve the lives of our people."

Gwamna praised the leadership of Governor Inuwa Yahaya and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that their developmental strides have continued to boost public confidence in the ruling party at both state and national levels.

He believed that the progress recorded under the current administrations would strengthen the APC's support base ahead of the 2027 elections, and urged party members and supporters to remain united and committed to the party's success in the state.

Gwamna added, "The success of the APC in Gombe State depends on collective effort, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to progress."
