Guide to Obtaining a Police Clearance Certificate and Permission for Tinted Windows

The Nigeria Police Force has established an online portal, known as the Police Specialised Services Automation Project, to facilitate the application process for a Police Character Certificate and Tinted Glass Permit, allowing applicants to complete most of the process digitally before visiting a designated police command or formation for biometric capture.

Applicants for a Police Character Certificate must submit an online request form, which requires details such as identification type, identification number, full name, phone number, email address, gender, state of residence, Local Government Area, and residential address, with the option to provide alternative contact information.

The Tinted Glass Permit application process involves four stages, starting with selecting the tinted glass permit service, followed by completing the online request form, confirming and submitting the application, and making the required payment.

To apply for a Tinted Glass Permit, applicants must provide personal information, including identification type and number, full name, phone number, email address, gender, state, Local Government Area, residential address, and optional alternative contact details, which are the same requirements as for the Police Character Certificate.

The Nigeria Police Force has the authority to approve or reject any application based on its operational guidelines and security considerations, and submitting false information, forged documents, or fake biometric data will result in automatic rejection and potential penalties.

Applicants residing in Nigeria are required to appear in person at their selected police command or formation for biometric capture on their scheduled appointment date, and a one-time, non-refundable application and processing fee is mandatory for each request.

Payments must be made exclusively through the POSSAP platform using the generated payment invoice during the application process, and applicants are not required to pay any additional fees at police formations for biometric capture or collection of certificates or permits.

The processing and issuance of applications require a minimum of 72 hours, and applicants can initiate the process on the POSSAP platform at http://possap.gov.ng/p/login.
