Governor Soludo inaugurates 1.7-kilometer stretch of road constructed by local residents in Anambra state

Chukwuma Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, has officially opened a 1.7-kilometre road in the Achalla community, located in the Awka North Local Government Area of the state, which was built and paved by Chief Emma Nwakamma through the state's Private-Public-Community Partnership model.

The commissioning ceremony took place on Wednesday, during which Soludo pledged to address the leadership crisis affecting the Achalla community, stating that his administration would take necessary steps to restore harmony and progress to the ancient kingdom.

Soludo emphasized the importance of internal stability in the town, noting that it is a prerequisite for development, and assured the residents that his administration would work with the community members to achieve this goal.

He stated that the state cannot stand by while internal frictions threaten the collective future of the people, and expressed his commitment to intervening in the leadership of Achalla to bring about lasting peace.

Soludo asked the crowd, "Achalla, are you ready?" and emphasized that development can only thrive in an atmosphere of tranquillity, with the goal of ensuring that Achalla moves forward as one united family.

The governor described the new road as a "shining beacon" of the state government's Private-Public-Community Partnership model, highlighting the economic reality that the government only controls a fraction of the state's potential.

He noted that about 98 per cent of Anambra's income and wealth is in private hands, and that the government's budget is only a small percentage of what the people own.

Soludo emphasized the need to harness private wealth to transform Anambra into a liveable and prosperous homeland, and acknowledged Chief Nwakamma's contribution as an example of what is possible when private success meets public spirit.

In an emotional appeal, the governor urged the people of Anambra to take action and make a positive impact on their surroundings, rather than waiting solely for the government to act.

Soludo celebrated Chief Emma Nwakamma's generosity, saying "I celebrate Chief Emma Nwakamma for his heart for the people," and encouraged others to follow his example, no matter how small their contribution may seem.

He added that no one is too poor to give, and no act is too small, emphasizing the importance of doing something for the greater good of the public.

Soludo also expressed his gratitude to the community for their support in the election, stating "I thank you for your election support, we scored 73 per cent of the total votes cast."

Earlier, Chief Nwakamma explained that his decision to fund the 1.7km road project was a direct response to Governor Soludo's Private-Public-Community Partnership model, and expressed optimism that the road would boost the local economy.

The event culminated in the official cutting of the ribbon, accompanied by songs of praise from the local residents.
