Governor of Kano Calls on 1,500 Couples to Embody Fairness and Mutual Respect at Large-Scale Wedding Ceremony

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has called upon 1,500 couples who benefited from the state's mass wedding programme to establish their relationships on the foundations of patience, justice, mutual respect, and understanding.

Yusuf's remarks were made while addressing the newlywed couples, as stated in a statement released on Saturday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin Tofa.

The governor emphasized that marriage is a form of worship, and therefore, couples should conduct their marital lives in accordance with the Holy Quran's teachings and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad.

Yusuf stressed that marriage, being an act of ibadah, should be guided by the principles outlined in the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad, and he urged the couples to adopt this approach in their daily lives.

The governor advised the couples to treat each other with respect and fairness, highlighting the importance of peaceful coexistence in building strong families, and he encouraged them to uphold these values as they embark on their new life together.

Yusuf further emphasized the need for the couples to put into practice the lessons they learned during their pre-marital counselling sessions, as these would help them navigate the responsibilities of family life and maintain a peaceful home.

The governor also prayed for Allah's blessings upon the marriages, wishing for the couples to be blessed with righteous children who would make positive contributions to their families, society, and humanity at large.

The mass wedding programme, which took place on Friday, was coordinated by the Kano State Hisbah Board and was part of the government's social intervention efforts aimed at supporting vulnerable residents and alleviating the financial burden associated with marriage.
