Gospel artiste Esther Igbekele loses mother

Nigerian gospel artiste, Esther Igbekele, has announced the death of her mother, Mary Amope Igbekele (JP).

Esther shared the news on Instagram in an emotional post on Friday, expressing her grief over the loss.

She wrote, “AND MY MOTHER DIED. Death, you took my GOLD away ”

The singer’s mother was recently celebrated by the family on the occasion of her 70th birthday and wedding anniversary.

Her death has since drawn condolences from fans and well-wishers who have expressed sympathy with the gospel singer and her family.

Esther, popularly known as the Duchess of Gospel Music, began her music career in 1996 and has released several gospel projects.

She has also performed at gospel events in Nigeria and abroad, including concerts in the United States and the United Kingdom.

The singer has yet to disclose the cause of her mother’s death or announce funeral arrangements.
