Foundation donates learning materials to school in Cross River

The Joseph Ogogo Foundation has donated books, bags and other learning materials to pupils in Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River State as part of efforts to address poverty-driven barriers to education.

The Foundation said the donation was part of a broader intervention programme that now covers tuition relief, community safety and rural infrastructure.

Speaking during the empowerment programme on Thursday, Founder of the Foundation, Dr. Austin Ogogo Jnr, said the initiative was driven by the Foundation’s commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable people through interventions in education, healthcare and community development.

He said, “This initiative is carefully targeted at interventions designed to improve access to education, restore dignity among vulnerable pupils, promote safer communities and strengthen the infrastructure required for sustainable development.”

Ogogo added that the programme was aimed at restoring dignity, improving well-being and creating opportunities for children and families in underserved areas.

“A child cannot learn effectively when poverty prevents the payment of school fees, when there are no basic learning materials, or when the journey home from school is unsafe,” Ogogo said.

He further highlighted educational support to pupils of Bukemanya Government Primary School and 10 other schools in Obanliku, adding that removing immediate obstacles such as school fees, exercise books and writing materials that often force parents to withdraw children from school.

He added that the Foundation has expanded its reach and introduced full payment of tuition fees for primary and pre-primary pupils at Bukemanya Government Primary School, distributed school uniforms, exercise books and other learning materials to eliminate stigma and ensure that children learn with dignity and a sense of belonging.

“Every school fee paid represents a child given another opportunity to learn. Every uniform provided restores dignity. Every solar light installed helps strengthen community safety,” he stated.

He addded that the foundation remains committed to transforming communities, restoring hope and empowering generations in Obanliku LGA and across Cross River State.
