FORMER NOLLYWOOD ACTRESS GRACE BASSEY SHARES NEWS OF HER FORTHCOMING WEDDING

Former Nollywood actress and United States Navy officer Grace-Charis Bassey Effah has revealed that she is now engaged to be married, sharing the news on Facebook on Tuesday with accompanying photos of herself and her fiancé.
nWhile the identity of her partner remains undisclosed, the photos showcased her engagement ring, with Bassey expressing her joy in a post that read, “Answered prayers, Age is just a number, Found someone worth calling life with, beyond blessed”.
nIn a separate post, she further conveyed her happiness, stating, “It feels like a dream but when true love finds you, you melt”.
nThe engagement signifies a new phase in Bassey's life, who had bid farewell to Nollywood in 2025 to embark on a military career in the United States, enlisting in the United States Navy in May 2025 and subsequently graduating from the Navy boot camp.
nShe also acquired US citizenship after taking the oath of allegiance, and dedicated this milestone to her late father, Asido Bassey Effah, a retired naval commander.
nBassey had previously mentioned that her decision to leave the movie industry stemmed from a lack of fulfillment in acting, and that joining the US Navy was a lifelong aspiration, given her background of attending the Nigerian Navy Secondary School in Port Harcourt and growing up in a military family.
nBassey's acting career began with her debut in the 2005 television series Shallow Waters, followed by her participation in the reality show Next Movie Star.
nHer acting accomplishments include winning several awards, such as the Most Promising Actor of the Year prize at the 9th Africa Movie Academy Awards.
nIn 2021, she announced a change in her name from Belinda to Grace-Charis, citing a divine encounter as the inspiration behind this decision, which was influenced by the meaning of her former name.
