Former minister Fani-Kayode describes his new diplomatic role as a godsent chance to make a difference

Femi Fani-Kayode, the former Minister of Aviation, has been formally presented with his Letters of Credence, thereby clearing the path for him to take up his new role as Nigeria's High Commissioner to the Republic of South Africa, the Kingdom of Lesotho, and the Kingdom of Eswatini.

This development was shared by Fani-Kayode via his verified X handle on Tuesday, where he expressed his appreciation for this milestone, revealing that he received the documents after obtaining the necessary agrément.

Fani-Kayode stated that he was honoured to have received his letters of credence to serve as the High Commissioner of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the Republic of South Africa, the Kingdom of Lesotho, and the Kingdom of Eswatini, which he received yesterday.

He explained that having received the 'agrément' and been presented with the letter of credence from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, the Honourable Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, he would commence the process of reporting to Pretoria.

Fani-Kayode will present his letter of credence to President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa, marking the beginning of his important work in the region, as outlined in his statement where he expressed his commitment to the new role.

The appointment comes exactly 20 years after Fani-Kayode served as the Minister of Aviation, and he views this new role as a divine opportunity to serve his country once more, as he noted in his expression of gratitude.

Fani-Kayode thanked God for the opportunity to serve his nation again, having been appointed as Minister of Aviation 20 years ago, almost to the day, and he is grateful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the confidence he has placed in him.

He also sought the prayers of all men and women of goodwill, stating that the Lord alone shall take the glory for this, and He shall do great things, while reaffirming his faith in God's faithfulness.
