Former Kwara goalkeeper delighted with Premier League comeback

Doma United goalkeeper Usman Jonah has expressed his excitement at returning to the Nigeria Premier Football League after helping the club secure promotion to the top flight, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The experienced shot stopper, who previously featured for ABS Ilorin FC, Kwara United and the now-defunct Ifeanyi Ubah FC, described the promotion campaign as both difficult and rewarding as Doma United booked their place back in the NPFL.

Jonah said the opportunity to compete again in the elite division carries great significance for him after several seasons away from the league.

Speaking to journalists after the club’s promotion success, the Mokwa-born goalkeeper insisted he was determined to perform better than during his previous spell in the NPFL while helping Doma United establish themselves in the division.

“I am back to the Premier League to do better than before, and we are here to do better. It’s been a tough journey, but we are now here, and we promise that we won’t go back to relegation again,” Jonah said.

The former Adamawa United goalkeeper revealed that his last appearance in the NPFL came during his time with the Yola-based side and admitted he was delighted to finally earn another opportunity at the highest level of Nigerian football.

“I last played in the Premier League with Adamawa United some seasons ago, and I am happy to be back now,” he added.

Jonah also sent a message to supporters who have followed his career over the years, assuring them that he has returned stronger and more motivated ahead of the new season.

“My fans have been missing me for some time now, and I want to tell them that I am back and better than before,” he stated.
