Former Imo gubernatorial hopeful praises Wike for revamping Nigeria's capital city

Uche Nwosu, a one-time gubernatorial candidate of the Action Alliance in Imo State, has praised Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, for the impressive infrastructure development seen across Abuja, describing it as remarkable.

This commendation from Nwosu comes at a time when the FCT Administration, under Wike's leadership, is facing intense public scrutiny, with the minister having embarked on a major infrastructure renewal programme over the past two years to enhance road networks, transportation, housing, and public facilities in the nation's capital.

During a news conference held in Abuja, Nwosu acknowledged Wike's exceptional leadership in executing critical infrastructure projects, including key roads, bridges, and public facilities, which have positively impacted the city.

According to Nwosu, the effects of the ongoing development initiatives under Wike's administration are evident to both residents and visitors, with the minister having made notable strides in transforming the city's landscape.

Nwosu, who has lived in Abuja for over 25 years, reflected on the city's transformation, stating that he is familiar with the state of many roads before the current developments, and now notable projects such as the Apo Road, Maitama Bridge, and Jahi Bridge stand as testaments to Wike's purposeful governance.

Since taking office in August 2023, Wike has prioritized infrastructure delivery, commissioning and initiating numerous road projects across the six area councils and the city centre to enhance connectivity, ease traffic congestion, and stimulate economic activities.

Nwosu emphasized that providing infrastructure and delivering democratic dividends to citizens is the primary responsibility of government, and in this regard, the FCT Minister has distinguished himself through his efforts.

He also commended the construction of the judges' quarters, viewing it as a significant step towards improving the welfare of judicial officers, and expressed his belief that similar interventions will be extended to other government institutions and agencies.

Nwosu stressed the need for Abuja, as Nigeria's capital, to meet global standards and compare favourably with other major capitals worldwide, arguing that investments in infrastructure, security, and environmental cleanliness are essential for enhancing the country's image and creating a positive experience for residents and visitors.
