Former Governor Lamido's son secures Jigawa state PDP nomination form for governor

Mustapha Sule Lamido has officially thrown his hat into the ring for the Jigawa State governorship, having obtained the Peoples Democratic Party nomination form, which he subsequently submitted to the state's PDP Working Committee and other key stakeholders for their backing on Tuesday.

This development comes after Lamido, the former PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 general election, had completed all necessary consultations, and is now seeking the party's endorsement to contest the 2027 election.

In a speech delivered shortly after collecting the nomination form and meeting with stakeholders in Dutse, the state capital, on Tuesday, Lamido expressed his unwavering commitment to the party's ideals, citing its strength and resilience in tackling internal challenges.

He told the gathering of party leaders and supporters that as card-carrying members of the PDP, they firmly believe in the party's philosophy and its capacity to address Jigawa's pressing problems if given another chance to govern.

Lamido voiced his confidence in the PDP, asserting that it remains the only platform capable of solving Jigawa's problems, and that the people of Jigawa and Nigerians at large still have faith in the party.

He emphasized that no other political party has been able to match the PDP's impressive record of delivering projects and programmes that have a direct positive impact on people's lives.

Lamido argued that parties which have come to power after the PDP have failed to meet expectations, citing poor leadership at the national level as a major contributor to this failure.

He criticized the current administration for exacerbating the country's social, economic, and security challenges, rather than addressing them, and accused rival parties of implementing weak and ineffective policies since taking over from the PDP.

Lamido made a passionate appeal to PDP members in Jigawa to rally behind him ahead of the 2027 polls, promising to uphold the party's core values of patriotism and service to humanity throughout his campaign.

As the son of former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, he stated that his decision to run is driven by a desire to restore effective governance and rebuild public confidence in leadership.
