Former Attorney-General Malami receives Kebbi ADC's nomination form for governorship bid

Abubakar Malami, the former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, has secured the governorship nomination form of the African Democratic Congress for the 2027 Kebbi State governorship election.

Malami announced his decision to run on Saturday via his social media platforms, citing his inability to remain silent in the face of rising insecurity, poverty, and poor healthcare in Kebbi State, among other issues.

He highlighted the state's dire humanitarian and governance crises, pointing to statistics that show over 67 percent of children between six and 15 are out of school, and more than 88 percent of children live in multidimensional poverty.

Malami expressed concern over the state's healthcare sector, where maternal mortality rates remain high and many rural communities lack access to essential medical services like antenatal care.

The former minister also noted that insecurity persists, with communities facing attacks from bandits and kidnappers, forcing farmers to abandon their lands and businesses to operate in fear.

Malami accused the current administration of having misplaced priorities, focusing on other issues while citizens struggle with hardship and insecurity.

Declaring a "State of Emergency on Misgovernance" in Kebbi State, Malami pledged to prioritize security, education, healthcare, agricultural revival, and youth empowerment if elected governor in 2027.

His ambition, he said, is driven by a desire for service, accountability, and sustainable development, and he believes it is time to end the era of ineffective leadership and empty propaganda.

Malami called on the people of Kebbi State to support his vision of rebuilding the state into a safer, more prosperous society, and he vowed to see the effort through to the end.

"There will be no retreat and no surrender in the collective struggle to rescue our state," he declared.
