Footage Emerges: Davido Speaks Out in Support of Uncle Amidst Dispute with Edo State Governor

Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, famously known as Davido, has fired back at Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo's comments about his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, while also urging President Bola Tinubu to guarantee a fair and transparent governorship election in Osun State, as seen in a video posted on X on Friday, just ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

Davido made these remarks during a "VOTE, NOT FIGHT" campaign event held in Osogbo on Friday, where he was gearing up for the upcoming August 15 governorship election.

In response to Okpebholo's jibes about Governor Adeleke's dancing, Davido defended his uncle, stating that there is nothing inherently wrong with dancing, and lashed out at the governor, saying "Mr Monday Okpebholo, you don see small money now, your voice no dey shake again abi? You’re talking about my governor that all he does is dance.

He further questioned the governor's criticism, asking "Is there any problem in dancing? Na because you no get talent na, You can talk anyhow," implying that Okpebholo's comments stemmed from his own lack of talent.

Davido also commended the Adeleke administration for fulfilling its promises to the people of Osun State, expressing his happiness that the Osun people have stood firm in their support.

He praised the government's performance, saying "It’s not only because of Adeleke but because this government has been doing a good job, All the projects we promised, we’ve been delivering it."

Davido then made a direct appeal to President Bola Tinubu, urging him to ensure the election's credibility, recalling a personal meeting in Abuja where the president had promised a free and fair election.

As a seeming retort to Okpebholo's comments, Davido shared what appeared to be the governor's WAEC result on his Instagram Stories on Friday, although he did not add any caption to the post.

This move was widely interpreted as a response to the governor's jibes about Adeleke's love for dancing, and came after Davido had joined Adeleke for a roadshow and campaign rally on Thursday.

During the rally, Davido had appealed for a peaceful, free, and credible poll, urging voters to reject violence, intimidation, and electoral interference.
