Folorunso Alakija unveils six books at 75th birthday thanksgiving

Billionaire businesswoman and philanthropist, Folorunso Alakija, marked her 75th birthday with a celebration anchored on faith, family, gratitude and thanksgiving.

Held at her Ikoyi residence in Lagos, the gathering brought together family members, friends, associates and notable personalities to celebrate her journey in entrepreneurship, philanthropy and Christian service.

The occasion reflected Alakija’s deep faith, with prayers, hymns, praise and worship forming key parts of the celebration.

News anchor, Ayo Mairo-Ese, served as the master of ceremonies and described Alakija as “a woman who is truly an Amazon”, while highlighting her contributions across various sectors.

Gospel saxophonist, Beejay Sax, led the praise and worship session, while the birthday girl shared joyful moments with her family as she danced gleefully. A Bible reading by her grandson also added to the spiritual atmosphere of the event.

Pastors Tolu Odukoya and JT Kalejaye were part of the service, with Kalejaye delivering a sermon centred on the importance of praising God.

Gospel artistes, including Dare Justified, Chigozie Wisdom and Tosin Bee, also performed at the event, further elevating the celebratory atmosphere with inspiring music ministrations.

In her remarks, Alakija expressed gratitude to God for His faithfulness, preservation and blessings throughout her life.

The celebration was attended by prominent personalities, including former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, alongside family members, friends and associates.

As part of activities marking her birthday, Alakija unveiled six new books during the thanksgiving service, highlighting themes of faith, family, leadership and service.
