Firm holds coding competition

A renewable energy company, All On, has organised a coding competition (hackathon) to nurture young innovators and encourage the development of practical solutions to the country’s clean energy challenges.

The event, held in Lagos, according to a statement made available to Saturday PUNCH on Friday, formed part of activities marking the company’s 10th anniversary and brought together students and young innovators to develop technology-driven solutions for the renewable energy sector.

The statement said Team Current Creators, comprising students from the University of Lagos, Lagos State University and Yaba College of Technology, won the hackathon with its innovation, ColdLink.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of All On, Ms Caroline Eboumbou, said the hackathon was designed to inspire and empower the next generation of clean energy innovators while promoting solutions capable of expanding access to sustainable energy in the country.

She said the initiative reflected the company’s decade-long commitment to supporting people, businesses and partnerships driving clean energy adoption across the country.

“For the past 10 years, All On has invested in people, businesses and partnerships that are expanding access to clean energy across Nigeria. The All On @10 Hackathon builds on that commitment, giving young innovators the opportunity to develop practical solutions that will help shape the future of our energy sector,” she said.

Eboumbou explained that All On was established by Shell to catalyse the growth of Nigeria’s off-grid energy market by providing affordable, reliable and sustainable energy for low-income households and small businesses.

She added that the company supports Nigerian renewable energy firms through debt and equity financing, as well as non-financial assistance, aimed at closing the country’s energy access gap.
