Enugu State Governor Gives Green Light for Hiring of 6,580 New Educators and School Personnel

Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has given the green light for the recruitment of 6,580 qualified candidates to fill various academic, technical, and administrative positions in public primary and junior secondary schools, with a particular emphasis on staffing the state's 267 Smart Green Schools.

This development was announced in a job vacancy advertisement released by Associate Professor Hyginus Okibe Banko, the Executive Chairman of the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board.

The recruitment exercise is a key component of the state government's comprehensive education strategy, as outlined in the vacancy notice, which highlights Governor Peter Mbah's commitment to providing the necessary human resources to drive the Smart Green School initiative and deliver quality education across the state.

According to the notice, the recruitment drive encompasses a wide range of core and specialized roles, including teaching and non-teaching positions, with the aim of strengthening the state's education sector.

A breakdown of the available positions reveals that the board is seeking to recruit 4,698 core subject teachers in subjects such as Mathematics, English Language, Basic Science, Basic Technology, ICT, French, Igbo Language, and History.

Other positions advertised include 520 digital librarians, 380 experiential learning innovators, 267 guidance counsellors, 267 ICT staff, 267 laboratory attendants, 136 account officers, and 45 technicians, all of which are crucial to the effective functioning of the state's education system.

To be eligible for teaching positions, applicants must possess a bachelor's degree in education, a bachelor's degree or Higher National Diploma with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, or a Nigeria Certificate in Education in the relevant subject areas, as well as registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria.

For non-teaching roles, the requirements vary, with applicants needing degrees in specialized fields such as Library and Information Science, STEM, and Psychology, or an Ordinary National Diploma, Trade Test Certificate, or SSCE/WASSCE for positions like laboratory attendants, technicians, and ICT staff.

The board has emphasized that candidates applying with a degree or HND must possess a valid NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, and that practical proficiency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools is required across all cadres.

Interested and qualified candidates are required to submit a formal application letter, a detailed curriculum vitae, copies of credentials, a birth certificate or sworn affidavit of age, and valid contact information, either in hard copy to the Office of the Executive Chairman, ENSUBEB, Enugu State, or electronically by sending a single PDF file to [email protected].
