Ivan Toney, the England striker, is facing an assault charge stemming from an alleged incident at a central London nightclub, with the 30-year-old Al-Ahli forward being charged on 31 July.

The charge is connected to an incident that occurred on 6 December on Wardour Street, Soho, and Toney has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm.

Toney is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 24 September to address the charge, according to a spokesperson who revealed that the former Brentford striker acknowledges the charge.

A spokesperson for Toney stated that despite being naturally shocked, he is looking forward to defending himself in court and clearing his name, as reported by the BBC on Friday.

The spokesperson's statement further emphasized that Toney is prepared to defend himself, saying “Ivan acknowledges the charge and although he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to being allowed to clear his name in court”.
