Digital payments have become a vital component in enhancing tax administration, revenue collection, and public service delivery, according to eTranzact Plc, with the company's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Niyi Toluwalope, making this assertion at the Nigeria Employers’ Summit 2026 in Abuja.

At the summit, which was organised by the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association, Toluwalope, who was represented by the Executive Director and Group Head, Public Sector Division, Mr Abubakar Achimugu, emphasized that digital payments have evolved to drive economic growth and accountability, improving transparency and revenue collection.

The role of technology in national development was also discussed, with Toluwalope stating that governments worldwide are investing in Digital Public Infrastructure, which is built on three interconnected pillars: digital identity, trusted data exchange, and digital payments.

Nigeria has made significant progress in digital identity enrolment, with over 100 million National Identity Numbers and more than 60 million Bank Verification Numbers, Toluwalope noted, adding that private sector firms are responsible for building and operating the digital infrastructure needed to support economic activities.

Toluwalope explained that every digital payment creates a trusted record, which strengthens accountability, reduces leakages, and increases confidence in government, institutions, and the economy, highlighting the importance of eTranzact's role in this process.

eTranzact's technology solutions support government institutions and businesses in improving efficiency and service delivery, with the company's belief that technology creates value only when it advances national priorities guiding every solution they build.
