Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board postpones educators' hiring assessment

The Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board has extended the qualifying examination for its ongoing teachers’ recruitment exercise from two to three days.

The examination, originally scheduled for Friday, August 14, and Saturday, August 15, 2026, will now begin on Thursday, August 13, and run through Saturday, August 15, 2026.

The Permanent Secretary of SUBEB, Mr Michael Omolayo, disclosed this in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Monday.

Omolayo said, “The additional day is to enable the Board to efficiently conduct the examination for the large number of eligible applicants who successfully completed the application process.”

Recall that Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, recently approved the recruitment of teachers into public primary schools to improve learning outcomes in the state.

The Ekiti SUBEB Chairman, Prof Femi Akinwumi, said the approval reflected the administration’s commitment to repositioning basic education for quality service delivery across the state.

Akinwumi had said the recruitment would be based strictly on consequential vacancies arising from the retirement of teachers over the past few years.

“The exercise is aimed at filling existing gaps in public primary schools to ensure adequate staffing,” he said.

Omolayo said the adjustment to the examination schedule became necessary due to the high volume of applications received for the exercise.

The permanent secretary said, “Applicants who successfully completed their applications would be notified of their respective examination dates and times through their registered email addresses.”

Omolayo, who said the Computer-Based Test would be conducted at Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, directed shortlisted candidates to appear at the examination venue on their assigned dates and times, with printed copies of their application forms for verification.

He warned that “only duly invited applicants will be allowed into the examination halls. Mobile phones and other electronic devices would not be permitted within the examination premises.”

The PS advised candidates to arrive at the venue only at their designated times, stressing that loitering around the examination centre would not be permitted.

He urged all candidates to comply with the examination schedule and instructions contained in their notification emails.
