Ekiti State Enhances Partnership with Nigerian Air Force to Foster Airport Development and Fortify Safety Measures

Ekiti State Government has bolstered its efforts to forge a stronger partnership with the Nigerian Air Force, aiming to enhance operations at the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport and reinforce security across the state.

According to Governor Biodun Oyebanji, the state's world-class airport necessitates close cooperation with the NAF to ensure the facility's security, smooth operations, and maximum potential for economic growth.

A statement issued by the governor's Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, revealed that Oyebanji made these remarks during a working visit to the office of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

Oyebanji praised the NAF for its professionalism and dedication, acknowledging that its efforts have been instrumental in safeguarding lives, protecting critical infrastructure, and ensuring smooth operations at the Ekiti airport.

The governor stated that discussions with the NAF have been ongoing to deepen their partnership, and he expressed gratitude for the NAF's presence in the state, while also emphasizing the need for further collaboration.

Oyebanji announced that over 1,000 hectares of land have been made available to the Air Force, with the Certificate of Occupancy ready, demonstrating the state government's commitment to the partnership.

The governor highlighted Ekiti's modern airport, citing its high-quality runway, facilities, and upcoming Instrument Landing System (ILS), which will be ready next month, making it essential to deepen the collaboration with the NAF.

Oyebanji assured that the state is prepared to provide any necessary assets to enable the Air Force to operate effectively and increase security, thereby making the airport more functional.

Air Marshal Aneke commended Oyebanji for his proactive approach to development and security in Ekiti State, describing the governor's commitment as reflective of visionary leadership and a deep understanding of the importance of security and infrastructure to economic growth.

Aneke expressed the NAF's eagerness to deepen its collaboration with the state government, not only to secure the airport and other critical infrastructure but also to support initiatives that promote economic growth, regional development, and the overall safety of residents and visitors.

The NAF is in discussions with international partners to establish an aircraft repair and overhaul centre at Ekiti airport, a move that would boost the airport's capacity, create jobs, and strengthen the state's aviation and security infrastructure, according to Aneke.

Aneke praised Oyebanji's strategic leadership, saying that his development initiatives are commendable and will be appreciated by future generations.
