Ekiti Lawmaker: Overwhelming Turnout in Presidential Primaries Demonstrates Strong Faith in Tinubu's Ability to Lead

A House of Representatives member, Akinlayo Kolawole, has said that the massive votes recorded by President Bola Tinubu in Saturday’s All Progressives Congress Presidential Primaries in wards and states across the country is reflection of confidence in his leadership.

Kolawole, who represents Ekiti North Federal Constituency lI in the National Assembly, in a statement in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, congratulated Tinubu for his victory where he picked the party’s second term ticket.

The National Assembly member said, “The President has, through his numerous achievements in the different sectors and his reforms, which have moved the country forward in the last three years, worked for the party’s second term ticket and indeed reelection in January 2027. I congratulate the President for this victory.”

The lawmaker also hailed party members for the impressive turn out to vote in the primary election in Ekiti and other states.

The federal lawmaker, who mobilized party members to vote for the second term presidential ticket for Tinubu in his Igogo Ward 2, Moba Local Government area of ​​Ekiti State, expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the exercise.

He hailed the result of the primary election in Igogo Ward 2, where he voted, saying, “The outcome of the exercise in my ward, Ekiti State and other states of the federation and as well the Federal Capital Territory is a reflection of growing confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership and the APC’s political dominance in the area ahead of the 2027 general elections.”

Recall that the APC Presidential Primary Election Committee, Plus Anyim, had on Sunday announced that President Tinubu polled 10,999,162 votes while the challenger, Stanley Osifo, scored 16,503 votes.

Kolawole, a prominent APC chieftain in Ekiti State, said that he would continue to play visible roles in party mobilization and constituency engagements as he had done to date since the build up to his emergence as federal lawmaker.

According to the statement, for Igogo Ward 2 where the lawmaker voted, the outcome recorded showed that out of the 687 registered voters accredited for the exercise, 595 votes were cast in favor of President Tinubu.

The federal lawmaker’s supporters described the outcome in the ward as a strong demonstration of Kolawole’s grassroots influence and organizational strength within the APC structure in Ekiti North Federal Constituency II comprising Moba, Ilejemeje and Ido-Osi local government areas.

The primary election witnessed active participation from party faithful and stakeholders across the ward.
