Edo Records 131,165 Additional Registered Voters with INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission says it registered 131,165 new voters in Edo State following the conclusion of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise.

The commission also said 52,907 voters transferred their registrations to new polling units, while it processed 19,565 requests for change of name and corrections to names, dates of birth, gender, addresses and profession.

In a report issued on Friday, the Edo State Public Relations Officer of INEC, Toyin Buoro, said the CVR exercise was conducted between August 2025 and July 2026.

According to the report, Owan West Local Government Area recorded the lowest number of new registrations with 3,393 voters, while Ovia North East recorded 11,613 new voters. Oredo Local Government Area registered 9,544 new voters.

The report also stated that the INEC State Office recorded the highest number of new registrations, with 11,747 voters.

The report read, “A total number of 131,165 new voters were registered in Edo State in the just concluded Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise which took place between August 2025 to July 2026.

“The Owan West local government had the least registration with a total of 3,393 new voters, 11,613 new voters registered in the Ovia North East while Oredo had 9544 new voters.”
