Eagle Online publisher Dotun Oladipo dies at 56

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Premium Eagle Media Limited, Dotun Oladipo, has been reported dead at the age of 56.
nPremium Eagle Media Limited is the parent company of Eagle Online.
nOladipo’s death was announced on the Eagle Online website early Wednesday.
nThe publication noted that Oladipo was in his “usual state of health earlier in the day before suddenly taking ill at his office.”
nIt described his death as a “shock” to colleagues, friends and associates.
nHis death was also confirmed by the President, Guild of Corporate Online Publishers, Danlami Nmodu, who announced the veteran journalist’s death on the guild’s WhatsApp platform on Tuesday.
nHe was president of the guild at a point.
n“It has just been confirmed that Emeritus President, Mr Dotun Oladipo, died today.
n“May his soul rest in peace. Amen,” the message read.
nAlso, the General Secretary, Innovative Media Partners Cooperative Multipurpose Society, Nkanu Egbe, announced on Wednesday.
nEgbe wrote, “It is with profound sorrow that I announce the sudden death of our President, Mr Dotun Oladipo, who passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, in Lagos, at the age of 56.
n“Mr Oladipo led our cooperative with dedication, alongside a distinguished journalism career spanning nearly three decades. His passing is a devastating loss not only to IMPCMS but to Nigerian journalism as a whole.”
nHe said funeral arrangements and other important matters would be communicated at a later time.
n“The Executive Committee will communicate further details regarding funeral arrangements, condolence visits and interim leadership matters as they become available.
n“Members are urged to keep his family and our cooperative in their prayers during this difficult time,” he stated.
nThe presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, in a Facebook post on Wednesday, described the deceased as a “complete gentleman, accomplished digital journalist and remarkable human being.”
nHe wrote, “Dotun Oladipo has passed away. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire community of digital journalists in Nigeria.
n“May Dotun Oladipo rest in power!”
nOladipo served as the politics editor at PUNCH Newspapers during his illustrious journalism career.
nHe also served as a member of the newspaper’s editorial board.n
After leaving PUNCH Newspapers, he worked with Nigerian Tribune, Nigerian Compass, and The Sun before founding Eagle Online.
nHe obtained a Higher National Diploma in Mass Communication from the Ogun State Polytechnic, Abeokuta, in 1992.
nHis professional colleagues have taken to social media platforms to mourn the man they described as a thorough professional and humble.
