Don’t allow political differences turn hatred, Bishop tells Osun politicians

The Diocesan Bishop of Ijesa North Anglican Diocese in Osun State, Rt. Revd Isaac Oluyamo,
nhas urged politicians in the state not to allow their differences to become permanent sources of hatred or separation.n

The clergy made this known in a statement obtained in Osogbo, Osun State, on Friday.

Bishop Oluyamo, who prayed for healing of wounded relationships, reconciliation within families and restoration of broken friendships, appealed to individuals and families to put the disagreement caused by the last governorship elections behind them.

Oluyamo, while charging people to bury every bitterness and embrace reconciliation, also prayed against accidents, sudden death, calamities and every form of tragedy within the state.

He congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his victory at the August 15 gubernatorial poll, charging him to put God first in managing the affairs of the state.

“Moving beyond politics, I appeal to individuals and families to put the last elections behind them, bury every bitterness and embrace reconciliation, forgiveness and peace. Elections will come and go, but relationships, families, communities and the bonds of brotherhood must endure.

“I call on everyone who may have been divided by political differences not to allow temporary political contests to become permanent sources of hatred or separation,” Oluyamo said.

Insisting that God remains the ultimate source of security and direction, the Bishop encouraged people to rely on God as their shield.

The PUNCH reports that Oluyamo has been consistent in commenting on national issues and matters relating to Nigerians.

In one of his interventions, Oluyamo commended President Bola Tinubu for his efforts in steering the affairs of the country despite prevailing economic and governance challenges.

The cleric, however, called on the federal government to intensify efforts to tackle insecurity, warning that persistent killings, kidnappings and banditry continue to threaten national stability and economic growth.

He spoke during the opening session of the third session of the fifth Synod of the Diocese, held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Esa-Oke.
