Disgruntled APC supporters demonstrate against forced candidates in Oyo

A protest was staged by certain disgruntled All Progressives Congress members in Oyo State on Thursday, prompted by alleged candidate imposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
nThe protesters converged on the party secretariat at Oke-Ado in Ibadan South East Local Government Area, coinciding with a meeting between the party's leadership, stakeholders, and aspirants, to warn against the influence of money in candidate selection.
nThey argued that such practices had previously harmed the party, citing the 2023 general elections as an example, and instead advocated for a fair and level playing field through the conduct of free, fair, and credible primaries for all aspirants.
nOlawale Sadare, the party's Publicity Secretary, confirmed the protest in Ibadan, stating that the protesters were sponsored to disrupt the party's peace.
nSadare described the protesters as hoodlums who terrorized members of the state executive committee, staff, and others at the Secretariat, armed with weapons and charms, and causing damage during their two-hour attack.
nThe attack resulted in damage to private cars and the Secretariat building, with shattered windshields, tires, office windows, and doors, but fortunately, no lives were lost in the unprovoked attack.
nThe incident has been reported to security agents, with investigations already underway, according to Sadare, who declined to comment further at this time.
