Dickson set to announce NDC nomination panel, organize dinner for hopefuls

On Monday, Seriake Dickson, a former Governor of Bayelsa State and National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, will launch the party's 21-member Selection Committee in Abuja, marking a significant step in the party's preparations for the upcoming general elections. This move is part of the party's internal processes aimed at refining candidate selection across various levels of elective offices.

The inauguration of the Selection Committee follows the successful completion of screening exercises for aspirants vying for governorship, National Assembly, and State Houses of Assembly positions, as announced in a press statement signed by the party's National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director.

The newly established Selection Committee is tasked with the responsibility of reviewing screening outcomes from across the country, thereby deepening internal democracy and strengthening the party's candidate selection process.

According to the statement, the 21-member committee will review, scrutinize, and consider the reports and recommendations of the National Screening Committee and the State Houses of Assembly Screening Committees, as part of its mandate to ensure credible candidate selection.

The committee, which will be chaired by the NDC National Chairman, Sen. Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, is expected to take decisive actions on the screening outcomes of all aspirants, aiming to ensure credible representation ahead of the polls.

The formation of the 21-member panel is a direct result of recommendations from the National Working Committee, which worked in tandem with directives from the party's National Leader, Sen. Henry Seriake Dickson, highlighting the party's commitment to transparency and internal democracy.

The committee's primary objective is to present strong contenders across all electoral positions, as part of broader reforms within the party structure, according to the statement, which emphasized the importance of fielding the most formidable candidates for every position.

Later on Monday, at 6:00 pm in Abuja, Dickson is scheduled to host an Aspirants Dinner, bringing together screened aspirants and select stakeholders of the party, in an effort to foster unity and engagement within the party's ranks.

A separate statement issued by the National Secretary, Barr. Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, explained that the dinner aims to strengthen the bond between the party's hierarchy and aspirants, as well as other stakeholders who have been working tirelessly to promote the party's interests.

The event aligns with the party's vision of inclusiveness and cohesion, as stated by the National Secretary, who emphasized the importance of creating a united and closely knit family within the party, where every member feels valued.
