Cuban regime's collapse is imminent, according to Trump

President Donald Trump issued a renewed threat to Cuba on Friday, stating that the communist-ruled island will "fall pretty soon", as it already grapples with a US energy blockade.

In an interview with CNN, Trump asserted that Cuban leaders are eager to negotiate, saying "They want to make a deal so badly".

Trump indicated that he has ample time to address the situation, but believes Cuba is poised for change "after 50 years", and will be relying on Secretary of State Marco Rubio to handle the matter.

Both Trump and Rubio, who is the son of Cuban immigrants, have been open about their goal of regime change in Havana.

The US has imposed an energy blockade on Cuba, resulting in a significant decline in the nation's fuel stocks, following the US capture of President Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela, a key oil supplier to Cuba.

Since January 9, no oil imports have reached Cuba, forcing airlines to reduce flights to the island and exacerbating the long-running economic crisis.

Havana has accused Trump of attempting to strangle Cuba's economy, which has been under a US trade embargo since 1962 and has struggled with severe economic difficulties, including power cuts and shortages of essential supplies like fuel, medicine, and food.
