Coming 2027: Obasa and Ambode Throw Weight Behind Tinubu's Bid for Another Term

Mudashiru Obasa, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, and Akinwunmi Ambode, the former governor, have urged Nigerians to back President Bola Tinubu's re-election in 2027, highlighting his ongoing reforms and economic policies as vital to the nation's development.

This call to action was made on Saturday during an interfaith prayer session held in the Ikeja area of the state, which was organised by The Mandate Movement to commemorate President Tinubu's 74th birthday, according to a statement.

Obasa stressed that the continuation of Tinubu's administration beyond 2027 is essential for consolidating the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that the President's achievements make a strong case for his re-election.

The Speaker explained that the prayer session was not only for the President's success in leading the nation beyond 2027 but also for Nigeria's peace, unity, stability, security, and overall development, as Tinubu has demonstrated visionary leadership through his policies and reforms.

Obasa cited initiatives such as the removal of fuel subsidy, which has increased revenues for states, and the Nigeria Education Loan Fund, which has created unrestricted access to higher education, as examples of the President's impact.

The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, a major infrastructure project, has the potential to boost economic growth and tourism, according to Obasa, who also commended the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, for her Renewed Hope Initiative.

Obasa called on Nigerians to support and re-elect President Tinubu, alongside all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the 2027 general elections, in order to consolidate the gains of the current administration.

Ambode praised Tinubu's leadership and legacy, urging Nigerians to rally behind the President's re-election bid, stating that it is the collective duty of Nigerians to support him so that the nation can fully reap the benefits of his reforms.

Ambode expressed confidence that Nigeria would continue to prosper under Tinubu's administration, which has stabilised the country and its economy, and commended the President's commitment to Nigeria's progress.

Tayo Ayinde, the Chief of Staff to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, lauded Tinubu for his efforts in repositioning the economy, saying that all Nigerians should support the President to continue beyond 2027.

Stephen Ogundipe, the Chairman, House Committee on Information and Strategy, and Lanre Ogunyemi, the Chairman, Planning Committee, called on Nigerians to celebrate Tinubu's achievements and pray for the President's continued good health, while also urging support for his re-election bid.

The event, which was attended by political leaders, stakeholders, party faithful, community leaders, as well as Islamic and Christian clerics, and supporters of the All Progressives Congress from across Lagos State, demonstrated a show of support for President Tinubu's re-election bid.
