Come 2027, PDP is capable of reclaiming Ogun, according to the party's deputy governorship candidate

Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo, the Peoples Democratic Party's deputy governorship candidate in Ogun State for the 2027 governorship election, has asserted that the PDP is the sole credible platform equipped to rescue Ogun State from its socio-economic and developmental challenges.

She made this declaration on Tuesday during a visit to her Ijemo community in Abeokuta South Local Government Area, where she was warmly received alongside the party's Ogun Central Senatorial candidate, Iyabo Obasanjo, and other prominent party members.

The event drew a sizable crowd of party supporters, community leaders, and residents, all of whom welcomed Sowunmi-Kolapo and the other PDP dignitaries with enthusiasm.

Sowunmi-Kolapo urged the people of Ogun, particularly those from Egba land, to resist intimidation and vote overwhelmingly for the PDP, emphasizing that the party's governorship ticket embodies the aspirations of the state's indigenous people.

She stressed that the people must rally behind the opposition party that genuinely represents their interests and identity, adding that the PDP is the most credible and formidable political party to reshape the fortunes of Ogun State.

Sowunmi-Kolapo expressed confidence that the party would reclaim power in the state, boasting of the support of the electorate, and asserting that neither the party nor its members would be intimidated by political opponents ahead of the 2027 polls.

She cautioned against allowing a "stranger" to emerge as governor, emphasizing that while the Egba people are hospitable and welcoming to all, leadership of the state should remain in the hands of those who truly belong to and understand the people.

Sowunmi-Kolapo exhorted the people to come out en masse to vote and not be intimidated, urging them to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and vote for the PDP.

In his remarks, Abayomi Tella, the Ogun State chairman of the PDP, stated that the party remains the only political platform with a proven record of delivering democratic dividends to the people of Ogun State.

Tella noted that despite being out of power in the state, the achievements recorded by previous PDP administrations are still visible across different sectors, and urged voters to compare the party's legacy with the performance of subsequent governments.

The party chairman called on members and supporters to remain united, intensify grassroots mobilisation, and encourage eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards, expressing confidence that the PDP is well-positioned to reclaim Ogun State in the 2027 governorship election.

Iyabo Obasanjo appealed to the people of Ogun Central, particularly the Egba, to unite behind the PDP, arguing that the zone deserves to produce the next governor through a party that has an Egba indigene on its governorship ticket.

She maintained that the PDP remains the only political party capable of taking Ogun State to greater heights and urged residents to vote massively for the party during the 2027 general election.

Obasanjo emphasized that the Egba people must consider their interests and vote for the PDP, given that the party's deputy governor is from Egba and Ogun Central, and that the PDP is the only party that can rescue Ogun State.
