Campaign Teams for Oyebamiji and Adeleke at Odds Over Court Ruling on Deregistration

The Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council has asserted that the Federal High Court Abuja's judgement, which stripped the Accord Party of its recognition, has effectively put an end to Governor Ademola Adeleke's plans to run for re-election in the upcoming governorship poll in the state.

The council, in a statement issued by Remi Omowaiye, the Head of its Media and Publicity Committee, expressed profound respect for the court's authority and acknowledged the significant implications of the judgement on Adeleke's political future, given his intention to seek re-election on the Accord Party's platform.

Pelumi Olajengbesi, the spokesman for Governor Ademola Adeleke's re-election campaign council, swiftly responded by stating that the APC's attempts to divert Adeleke's attention from his re-election bid in the August 15 poll have been unsuccessful.

Olajengbesi emphasized that Adeleke, the Accord Party candidate, remains resolute and unfazed by the "political theatrics" and "manufactured controversies" in the state ahead of the election.

According to Olajengbesi, all efforts by the Osun APC to hinder or prevent the successful launch of Governor Ademola Adeleke's re-election campaign have ultimately failed.

Remi Omowaiye countered that, until the Federal High Court's decision is overturned by a competent appellate court, Adeleke will not be able to contest the governorship election on the Accord Party's platform, which would also impact the party's other nominations for state and national assembly positions.

Omowaiye noted that, beyond the recent judgement, there are still pending litigations regarding the leadership dispute within the Accord Party at the national level.

The governor's absence from the ballot, Omowaiye stated, would deny the people of Osun State the opportunity to directly express their discontent and frustration with what is widely perceived as four years of ineptitude, incompetence, and administrative ineffectiveness.

Omowaiye added that, even if Governor Adeleke avoids the electorate's verdict by being disqualified from the race, he cannot escape the demand for accountability and the long arm of justice.

As the situation unfolds, Omowaiye urged the people of Osun State to remain peaceful, vigilant, and committed to democratic principles as the state approaches the August 15 governorship election.

Pelumi Olajengbesi further reacted by stating that the opposition APC in Osun is intimidated by Adeleke's popularity and impressive record of performance.

Olajengbesi noted that the depletion of the Osun APC, following the defection of influential individuals to the Accord Party, has reaffirmed the obvious reality across Osun State.

According to Olajengbesi, Governor Ademola Adeleke remains the choice of the majority, and no amount of political desperation can alter this reality.

As Governor Ademola Adeleke launches his re-election campaign, Olajengbesi observed that the Osun APC appears restless and disoriented, lacking credible ideas or a superior record.

Olajengbesi stated that the opposition has spent weeks chasing controversies in a desperate bid for relevance, but every attempt to distract from the campaign launch has failed, as the people of Osun remain focused on issues that truly matter to their lives.

He emphasized that the APC is confronting a governor whose administration has earned the trust and confidence of the people through its performance in various sectors, including healthcare, education, economy, workers' welfare, infrastructure upgrade, and people-centred governance.

Olajengbesi concluded that the forthcoming election belongs to the people, and it is their votes that will determine the future of the state, rather than propaganda, intimidation, manufactured controversies, or political distractions.
