BSN sets aside N1.07 billion for scripture translation project

The Bible Society of Nigeria has put forward a budget of N1.07bn for 2027, with the aim of broadening its Bible translation projects and bolstering outreach programmes nationwide.
nThis proposal was made public in a statement issued by Benjamin Mordi, the BSN Manager for Media and Public Relations, on Friday.
nAccording to the statement, the proposed budget signifies a 14 per cent increase from the N943m that was approved for 2025.
nA sum of N216.6m has been set aside for ongoing Bible translation projects in various Nigerian languages, with N54.2m specifically allocated to the Nigerian Sign Language Bible project, which caters to the deaf community.
nThe society has noted that the cost of completing a full Bible translation project is at least N150m.
nFurthermore, the organisation has allocated N162.1m to its “Macedonian Call” intervention programme, which provides essential items such as Bibles, food, clothing, bedding, and educational support to internally displaced persons’ camps and underserved communities.
nA total of N102m has already been expended in the first quarter of the year on Bible translation and outreach initiatives.
nPastor Samuel Sanusi, the General Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the BSN, stated that the budget reflects the organisation’s dedication to enhancing lives amidst prevailing economic challenges.
nSanusi emphasized that the organisation's passion for the spiritual and social transformation of Nigerians drives its commitment to making the Word of God accessible and affordable, despite the difficult operating environment.
nHe also added that the organisation will continue to invest in programmes that foster spiritual growth and improve the overall well-being of Nigerians.
