Brother and spouse slain by man in violent Kebbi village incident

A 25-year-old man, Idrisu Musa, has been taken into custody by the Kebbi State Police Command in connection with the tragic deaths of his elder brother, Muhammed Haruna, and Haruna's wife, Habiba Muhammed, in Asarara Village.
nThe couple's lives were brutally cut short in the early hours of Saturday, when they were allegedly attacked with a cutlass while asleep in their home, at approximately 5:15 a.m., and later succumbed to the severe injuries sustained during the assault.
nAccording to the police, substantial and incriminating evidence has been recovered, which links the suspect to the crime, and it was also revealed that the suspect had previously threatened the deceased couple with a cutlass on several occasions before the fatal attack.
nPolice spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Saturday evening, and the statement also noted that the suspect had allegedly intimidated the couple with a cutlass on several prior occasions.
nThe Commissioner of Police in the state, Umar M. Hadejia, has given directives for the matter to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation, with the aim of ensuring that justice is served.
nThe police have assured the public that they will diligently pursue justice in this case, and the community, which had been demanding swift action from security agencies, is expected to find some relief in the latest arrest.
nThe incident had sparked concern among residents of Jega Local Government Area, after reports emerged that unidentified persons had attacked and killed the couple inside their residence, but the police have stated that further updates will be made available as investigations continue.
