BREAKING: Federal Government Unveils 2026 National Common Entrance Examination Scores

The 2026 National Common Entrance Examination results have been unveiled by the Federal Government, revealing that 10 candidates achieved the highest scores with 202 marks out of a possible 210.

Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, the Minister of State for Education, made the announcement on Thursday in Abuja, following the submission of the examination report by the National Examinations Council.

A total of 70,357 candidates registered for the examination to gain admission into the country's 80 Federal Government Colleges, with 66,950 candidates actually sitting for the test on Saturday, June 6, 2026, across Nigeria, the Benin Republic, and Togo.

Meanwhile, 3,407 candidates were absent from the examination, while the top 10 candidates each secured 202 marks, and 82 candidates recorded the lowest score of just one mark.

According to the minister, the National Common Entrance Examination is an annual event for qualified Nigerian children, both at home and abroad, seeking admission into the Federal Government Colleges across the country.

Ahmad described the examination as a crucial gateway for admission into Junior Secondary School One in the Federal Government Colleges, noting that it remains one of the country's most competitive entrance examinations.

The unity colleges, she added, continue to play a significant role in fostering national integration and unity, making them a preferred choice for parents across the country.

The minister also announced the release of the results of the entrance examination into the Federal Government Academy, Suleja, which saw 2,071 candidates register for the examination.

Out of these, 1,876 candidates sat for the test, while 195 were absent, with the highest score recorded being 187 marks, representing 89.05 per cent of the total obtainable score, and the lowest score being four marks.

Ahmad stated that the admission guidelines into the Federal Government Colleges remain unchanged, with admissions continuing to be based on 60 per cent merit, 30 per cent equality of states, and 10 per cent exigency.

The minister directed the Senior Secondary Education Department to conclude the admission exercise promptly and in strict compliance with the approved guidelines.

Ahmad reaffirmed the Federal Government's commitment to strengthening the nation's unity colleges through sustained investment in infrastructure, improved feeding programmes, and better teacher quality.

The minister noted that the Federal Government Colleges have become the first choice for many parents across Nigeria, and the government will continue to improve infrastructure, feeding, and teacher quality to ensure better learning outcomes for children.

Earlier, Prof. Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi, the Registrar of the National Examinations Council, formally presented the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination results and the National Gifted Examination results to the minister for public release.
