Benue in mourning after former Secretary to the State Government is slain by alleged outlaws

The passing of Prof. David Salifu, a former Secretary to the Benue State Government, has been met with sorrow by the state government, following his death from gunshot injuries sustained in a suspected bandit attack on the Wukari-Makurdi road.
nSalifu's tragic encounter with the suspected bandits occurred on Thursday, on the outskirts of Wukari, as he was travelling to Makurdi, and he succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Friday.
nA statement issued on Friday by Deborah Aber, the Secretary to the State Government, eulogized the late Salifu as a devoted public servant who made lasting contributions to governance and education in the state.
nAccording to the statement, which was issued on behalf of Governor Hyacinth Alia, Salifu served the state with remarkable diligence, integrity, and intellectual distinction, earning him widespread respect for his contributions to public administration, scholarship, and human capital development.
nThe statement also highlighted that Salifu's legacy would endure, as his work in these areas had a profound impact on the state, and he was widely respected for his accomplishments.
nOn behalf of Governor Hyacinth Alia, the Secretary to the State Government, Deborah Aber, extended heartfelt condolences to the Salifu family, expressing the government's and the people's sympathy over the painful loss of this distinguished individual.
nThe government of Benue State joined the family, friends, academic community, and all who knew Salifu in mourning the loss of this illustrious son of the state, as expressed in the statement.
nThe state government prayed for God to grant the Salifu family the strength to bear their loss and for the soul of the deceased to rest in peace.
