Benue APC chairman visits attack-hit communities, appeals for peace

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Benue State, Benjamin Omale, has appealed to the people of Benue South Senatorial District to remain calm and not take the law into their own hands.

Omale made the appeal on Saturday during his visit to communities recently attacked in the senatorial district.

n

The affected communities include Otukpo Nobi, Efuyi Ugboju, Olahimu, Ankpechi and Ondo Ugboju in Otukpo and Ohinmini Local Government Areas, where several people were killed and many others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The APC chairman condemned the killing of innocent people, the destruction of property and all forms of violence against citizens, and acknowledged the pain, fear and trauma experienced by the affected communities.

Omale said, “Let me appeal to our people to remain calm and peaceful, let us restrain from any form of retaliation or revenge, let no one take laws into their hands.

n

“Rather I urge our people to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information at the right time to avert subsequent attacks.”

While commending security agencies for their sacrifices, the chairman encouraged them to be more vigilant and charged them to apprehend the attackers to ensure that justice is served.

Omale also called for stronger collaboration among governments at all levels, traditional rulers, religious leaders, stakeholders, youths and communities to ensure peace reigns in the zone.

He encouraged residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information at the right time to avert subsequent attacks.

The party chairman commended President Bola Tinubu and the Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, for their tireless efforts to ensure maximum security for every Nigerian, stressing that no life is worth losing.

While extending his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and the affected communities, the chairman prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased and comfort for their loved ones.

Omale also donated relief materials to the affected victims during the visit to cushion the effect of the attacks on the survivors.
