Bayero University Kano kicks out 171 undergraduates over fake enrollment documents

The Bayero University Kano Senate has ratified the expulsion of 171 students due to the falsification of their admission entry qualifications, a decision made at its 433rd meeting on March 4, 2026.

This move was prompted by an investigation conducted by the Senate Committee on Entry Qualification Irregularities, which uncovered that the affected students had submitted falsified credentials during the admission process.

A statement published in the university's weekly bulletin on Friday outlined the Senate's decision, stating that the expulsion was approved at the 433rd meeting held on March 4, 2026, for the 171 students who falsified their admission entry qualifications.

The university emphasized that this offence is a clear contravention of Section 20.7, Category A (vii) of its General Examinations and Academic Regulations, which mandates expulsion as a penalty for such misconduct.

The expelled students are from various departments and levels, with the university describing this action as a measure to cleanse its academic records and uphold its standards.

In a separate incident, the Senate also approved the expulsion of Yusuf Muhammad Sani, a student from the Department of Civil Engineering, who was allegedly involved in a physical assault on invigilators during an examination.

This incident disrupted the examination and breached the university's regulations on student discipline, prompting the institution to take strict action against the student.

The university management reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining academic integrity and warned that any breaches of its rules would be met with strict sanctions in accordance with its established regulations.
