Bauchi law enforcement apprehend culprit, reclaim stolen items worth N1.2m

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old suspect, Saidu Isah, for alleged criminal conspiracy and theft, recovering stolen items valued at N1.2 million.

The arrest was carried out by operatives of ‘E’ Division, Yelwa, according to a statement issued on Sunday by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Habib.

Habib stated that the suspect, a resident of Almuri in Misau Local Government Area, was apprehended on May 3, 2026, during a routine patrol.

“On 3rd May, 2026, a patrol team from the Division arrested one Saidu Isah, male, 27 years old, of Almuri in Misau Local Government Area. The suspect was apprehended with three smart television sets, each valued at N400,000,” he stated.

The police spokesman added that during interrogation, the suspect confessed to conspiring with an accomplice identified as Abdul, also known as “PA,” who is currently at large.

He said the suspects allegedly broke into the premises of the National Broadcasting Commission located behind Elim Church in Yelwan Tudu, Bauchi, and stole the television sets.

“The duo, in furtherance of their unlawful act, trespassed into the premises and carted away the three television sets,” Habib added.

He noted that the case is under active investigation at the division, adding that the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of preliminary investigations.

Habib further disclosed that efforts had been intensified to apprehend the fleeing accomplice.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state. He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s control room line.
