Bauchi gov mourns aide, ex-deputy governor’s children killed in car crash

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has expressed deep sorrow over the death of his Special Adviser on Higher Education, Yakubu Ibrahim, and the tragic loss of two children of a former Deputy Governor, Baba Tela, in a road accident.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, Mohammed, on behalf of his family, the government and the people of Bauchi State, condoled with the families over the losses.

According to the statement, Ibrahim, an elder statesman, educationist and former Commissioner for Religious Affairs, died in Abuja after a protracted illness.

The governor described the late Ibrahim as a distinguished public servant whose life was marked by integrity, humility, selfless service and an unwavering commitment to the development of education in Bauchi State.

The statement read, “Until his death, Yakubu Ibrahim served diligently as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Higher Education, where he brought his vast experience, wisdom and unwavering commitment to the development of the education sector in Bauchi State.

“Governor Bala Mohammed described late Yakubu Ibrahim as a distinguished public servant whose life was defined by integrity, humility, selfless service and an unrelenting passion for the advancement of education.

n

“He noted that the deceased made invaluable contributions to the growth and transformation of education in both the old Bauchi State and the present-day Bauchi State, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations.”

Mohammed also recalled Ibrahim’s service as Commissioner for Religious Affairs and later as Special Adviser on Higher Education, saying his wise counsel, deep knowledge and dedication to public service enriched government policies and programmes.

“Yakubu Ibrahim was a committed patriot, a respected educationist, a mentor to many and a bridge-builder whose contributions to the educational and moral development of our society will remain indelible.

“His death is a painful loss not only to his immediate family but also to the Government and people of Bauchi State and the nation at large,” the governor said.

The governor also sympathised with Tela, following the death of his children, Mustapha and Ummi, who died in a ghastly motor accident on Saturday along the Bauchi–Azare Road while returning from Azare.

According to Gidado, Mohammed received the news with profound shock and sadness, describing the incident as a painful tragedy that had cast a shadow of grief over the state.

“The Governor said the loss of two young lives in such a tragic circumstance is not only a devastating blow to Senator Baba Tela and his immediate family but also a painful loss to the entire people of Bauchi State,” the statement added.

The governor prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased, asking Almighty Allah to grant them Aljannatul Firdaus and give their families the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

He urged the bereaved family to take solace in the will of Allah, assuring Tela of the support, prayers and solidarity of the government and people of Bauchi State during the difficult period.

Mohammed also extended his sympathies to those affected by the accident and prayed for the speedy recovery of those who sustained injuries, while calling on residents of the state to pray for the peaceful repose of the deceased and comfort for their families.
