Bassey withdraws from Super Eagles friendlies over injury

Calvin Bassey has withdrawn from the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Iran and Jordan due to a back injury.
nThe Super Eagles confirmed this in a statement on Wednesday, saying, “Calvin Bassey has withdrawn from the Nigeria national football team squad for the upcoming friendlies against Iran and Jordan due to a back injury. Wishing you a speedy recovery, CB.”
nBassey, who primarily plays as a centre-back, will miss both matches as the team continues preparations in Turkey.
nThe Super Eagles camp in Antalya had swelled to 21 players ahead of the friendlies.
nPUNCH Online reported that six additional players arrived on Wednesday morning, boosting the squad after an initial wave of early arrivals on Tuesday.
nEarly arrivals include Fisayo Bashiru, Alex Iwobi, Emmanuel Oluwasegun, Yira Sor, Paul Onuachu and Philip Otele.
nOthers are Semi Ajayi, Moses Simon, Francis Uzoho, Bruno Onyemaechi and Bright Osayi-Samuel.
nAlso in camp are Frank Onyeka, Adebayo Adeleye, Ademola Lookman, Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke.
nRaphael Onyedika, Igoh Ogbu, Maduka Okoye, Samuel Chukwueze and Zaidu Sanusi complete the 21-man list in camp.
nThe matches were moved from Amman to Antalya due to security concerns in the Middle East.
nNigeria will face Iran on Friday before taking on Jordan on March 31 in Antalya.
