Babachir Lawal gives Obi-Kwankwaso presidential bid 70% odds of success in 2027 election

Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, believes that a joint presidential ticket featuring Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso would have a greater likelihood of success in the 2027 presidential election than if they were to run separately, as he stated in an interview with Symfoni TV that was released on Saturday.

Lawal's assessment is that an Obi-Kwankwaso ticket would have a 70 per cent chance of emerging victorious, while he predicts that President Bola Tinubu would have a 50 per cent chance and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar would ultimately lose.

According to Lawal, Peter Obi is committed to fairness and doing what is right, which is why he is pairing Obi with Kwankwaso, a combination that he believes would be highly effective, as opposed to them running individually, which he thinks would be disastrous.

Lawal assigned a 70 per cent chance of success to the hypothetical Obi-Kwankwaso ticket, while giving President Tinubu a 50 per cent chance and Atiku no chance at all, stating "So I’ll give them, on my own scale, close to like 70 per cent, Again, Bola, 50, Atiku, zero".

Lawal is convinced that Atiku will not emerge victorious in the 2027 presidential election, stating "Definitely, Atiku will lose, He will, and I pray he loses, I’m not the only one, and he will lose".

These comments from Lawal come on the heels of his highly publicized fallout with Atiku, which occurred after he resigned from the African Democratic Congress.

Lawal has consistently alleged that the ADC presidential primary that chose Atiku as the party's candidate was plagued by widespread irregularities, a claim that the party has not officially acknowledged.
