Authorities detain quartet suspected of conspiring to murder entrepreneur in property dispute

The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended four individuals in connection with an alleged scheme to assassinate a businessman and illicitly seize his properties in Ukwulu, Dunukofia Local Government Area.

The suspects, whose names are Obiora Nwankwo, 38, Chiadikobi Okoye, 36, Emmanuel Mboko, 42, and Ifeanyi Obi, 37, were taken into custody at various locations in Ukwulu and Amichi on Wednesday.

Their arrests were made possible by the command's strategic intelligence efforts, led by the state Commissioner of Police, Nnanna Ama, according to a statement released by the command's spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, on Thursday.

The operation was carried out by the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, in collaboration with Agunechemba security personnel from Amichi and Nnewi, following a thorough gathering of credible intelligence.

During the operation, two firearms and live ammunition were recovered from the suspects, who are now being held in police custody.

A statement from the command revealed that the arrests were a result of the Commissioner of Police's strategic intelligence emplacement, which led to the uncovering of an alleged plot to murder a businessman and take over his properties in Ukwulu, Dunukofia Local Government Area.

The breakthrough occurred on Wednesday evening, when operatives from the Rapid Response Squad and Agunechemba security personnel disrupted the alleged plot, leading to the arrest of the four suspects.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects were involved in a plot to murder a citizen and subsequently take over their landed properties.

The command is currently conducting a thorough investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged conspiracy and to identify any other individuals who may be connected to the plot.

The suspects will face the full weight of the law once the investigation is complete, according to Tochukwu Ikenga, who added that the state Commissioner of Police has emphasized the importance of the command's intelligence-led policing strategy.
