Authorities compensate 16 families of slain policemen in Benue with N22.3m payout

The Nigeria Police Force has disbursed a total of N22.3 million to the families of 16 officers who lost their lives while on active duty in Benue State, presenting the beneficiaries with cheques on Friday in Makurdi.
nThe cheques were handed over to the next of kin of the deceased officers, with the Commissioner of Police in the state, Ifeanyi Emenari, encouraging the recipients to utilize the funds wisely.
nEmenari explained that the funds were sourced from the police welfare schemes, specifically the Group Life Assurance and Group Accident benefits, and were intended to support the families during their time of need.
nRepresenting the commissioner, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, Mohammed Yakubu, extended condolences to the families of the fallen officers, acknowledging that while financial compensation cannot replace the loss of life, it can help alleviate the impact of their death on their loved ones.
nYakubu advised the beneficiaries to consider investing the funds in viable business ventures that would enable them to become self-sufficient as they await further entitlements from the police force.
nEmenari took the opportunity to pay tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of the police officers who gave their lives in service to the nation, expressing his deepest condolences to the families and praying for their strength and comfort during this difficult period.
nHe assured the families that the service and sacrifice of their loved ones would not be forgotten, and offered prayers for their comfort and the well-being of the entire police community.
nHappiness Sale, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to the police force for its ongoing support to personnel and their families, even after their passing.
