Authorities apprehend trio in possession of alleged human remains in Oyo

A recent operation by the Oyo State Police Command resulted in the arrest of three individuals for allegedly possessing and selling suspected human parts in Ibadan, the state capital.

This development was announced on Tuesday through a statement by DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the command's Police Public Relations Officer, who revealed that the arrest occurred during a stop-and-search operation in the Adekile area of Agugu, Ibadan North-East Local Government Area.

A patrol team intercepted an unregistered Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, leading to the search of the pillion rider, who was immediately apprehended, and a package containing suspected human parts, specifically an intestine, was discovered.

According to Ayanlade, the apprehended rider, identified as Oyategbe Joseph, a male from Ibadan, confessed to the crime, revealing that he had obtained the suspected human parts from an unknown individual in the Oritaperin area.

Oyategbe Joseph admitted to selling the suspected human parts to two individuals: Alfa Onaolapo Taiwo, a 46-year-old male, and Pastor Ayodele Taiwo, a 55-year-old male, both of whom were subsequently arrested and brought in for questioning.

During interrogation, both Alfa Onaolapo Taiwo and Pastor Ayodele Taiwo confessed to purchasing the suspected human parts from Oyategbe Joseph, as confirmed by Ayanlade, who stated that the command acted swiftly on the intelligence to apprehend the two suspects.

The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, has ordered the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation, after which all suspects will be charged to court.

The three suspects are currently being held in police custody, and the command has urged the public to report any information regarding the possession or sale of human parts to the nearest police station.
