Authorities apprehend pair of alleged thieves in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has taken two individuals into custody in connection with alleged criminal conspiracy and armed robbery, and a stolen motorcycle was retrieved from their possession.
nThis development was announced by Nafiu Habib, the command's Police Public Relations Officer, in a statement released on Thursday.
nAccording to the statement, the arrests occurred on 4th May, 2026, when operatives from the Ningi Division apprehended Moh’d Sani, 25, and Sani Lawan, 20, both from Badungu Village, Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
nA red Boxer motorcycle was found in the suspects' possession at the time of their arrest, and further investigation linked them to a prior robbery incident in Ningi Local Government Area.
nThe investigation revealed that on 17th February, 2026, at approximately 1630hrs, the suspects had conspired and attacked Mustapha Tukur, a 20-year-old male from Sabuwar Kongoro Village, Ningi Local Government Area.
nThe incident took place in the bush area of Bukutumbe Village, Ningi LGA, where the suspects used force to take the motorcycle from the victim before fleeing the scene.
nThe suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and subsequent prosecution, according to Habib.
nHabib also stated that the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has reaffirmed the command's commitment to eliminating criminal elements from the state.
nThe police spokesman urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station or through the command's control room line.
