Authorities apprehend multiple individuals in connection with homicide and youngster mistreatment in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended four individuals in connection with alleged murder and child abuse incidents that occurred in various parts of the state, following the emergence of disturbing videos and tips from the public.

These arrests were made possible by the vigilance of concerned citizens who provided credible information to the authorities, as disclosed by the Command's Spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a press statement released on Monday.

A trending video showing the exhumation of a corpse in Nkpor and a 10-year-old boy with severe injuries prompted the command to take action, resulting in the detention of four suspects linked to the offences.

The Anambra State Police Command has commended the state's residents for their cooperation and timely provision of information, which has aided the police and other security agencies in exposing criminal activities and apprehending offenders.

Ifechukwu Okechukwu, a 33-year-old male, is being investigated for the alleged murder and secret burial of his 23-year-old girlfriend, with the case being handled by police operatives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department.

The suspect's arrest was made possible by credible information received from concerned members of the public, and the police have commenced detailed inquiries to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure justice is served.

In a separate case, three suspects - Chukwudi Chukwuyere, a 40-year-old male, Chisom Chukwuyere, a 30-year-old female, and Arum Goodluck, a 16-year-old male - are in custody for various offences, including the alleged serious abuse of a 10-year-old boy in Odume Layout, Isiowulu.

During interrogation, Chisom Chukwuyere confessed to using burning plastic to inflict burns on the victim, who has since received necessary care and support, while the police gather evidence to facilitate prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has reassured residents that the command remains committed to protecting lives and property, enforcing the law, and ensuring that perpetrators of crimes are brought to justice.

The CP has urged members of the public to continue supporting the police and other security agencies by reporting suspicious activities and criminal conduct through the command's emergency lines and the nearest police station.
