Authorities apprehend 150 suspects, seize 100 bikes, guns in Lagos crackdown

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 150 suspects and recovered 100 unregistered motorcycles, firearms, suspected stolen items and illicit drugs during a coordinated raid on criminal hideouts in the Igando and Idimu areas of the state.

The operation, carried out under the command’s ongoing Operation KO S’AYE, targeted criminal hideouts at Boolar, Okofilling Bus Stop, Igando and other identified black spots within the Area M, Idimu axis.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday.

According to Adebisi, the operation commenced at about 5:45 a.m. on Sunday following credible intelligence.

He said the raid involved a joint team of operatives drawn from various formations of the Lagos State Police Command and was aimed at flushing out hoodlums and other criminal elements allegedly terrorising residents of the affected communities.

“As part of the ongoing Operation KO S’AYE, the Lagos State Police Command has sustained its aggressive clearance operations against criminal hideouts across the state, in line with the Command’s commitment to ensuring that there is no safe haven for criminals.

“Acting on credible intelligence, a joint team of operatives drawn from different formations of the Command carried out a coordinated raid on criminal hideouts at Boolar, Okofilling Bus Stop, Igando, and other identified black spots within the Area M, Idimu axis,” he said.

The police spokesman said exhibits recovered during the operation included 100 unregistered motorcycles, 54 mobile phones, one double-barrel gun, two single-barrel guns, one locally made double-barrel short gun, two military camouflage uniforms, assorted charms, six generators suspected to have been stolen, substances suspected to be Indian hemp and other illicit drugs.

He added that all the suspects were in police custody while investigations continued to determine their level of involvement in criminal activities.

“Those found to have committed criminal offences will be charged to court accordingly,” Adebisi said.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining the anti-crime operation across the state.

According to the statement, the commissioner said Operation ‘KO S’AYE’ would continue to deny criminals safe havens and enhance the safety of residents.

He also appealed to members of the public to support the police with timely and credible information that would assist in identifying criminal hideouts, apprehending offenders and improving public security.

The command urged residents to report emergencies and provide useful information through its designated emergency lines.

Operation KO S’AYE is a security initiative launched by the Lagos State Police Command to dismantle criminal hideouts, curb cultism, armed robbery, drug-related offences and other violent crimes across the state.

The operation involves intelligence-led raids and coordinated deployments to crime-prone areas as part of efforts to improve public safety and deny criminal groups operational bases.
